Lake Parangana is a hydro Tasmania
lake. The
lake is 6 km south of Liena and 40 km west of
Deloraine.
Lake Parangana is a popular location for boating and fly fishing for trout.
There are camping and picnic areas and
boat launch facilities.
South from
Lake Parangana, past the Mersey, Whitewater Forest reserve and kayak course, you will find
lake Rowallan which is a starting point for
walking tracks in the nearby Highland regions
lake.
Parangana forms part of the Mersey fourth catchment the System of lakes created by hydro, Tasmania for the generation of electricity. There are a total of seven power stations in this catchment system contributing about 16% of Tasmania energy needs. You will need a license to fish for trout in Tasmania lakes.
