I thought Members may be interested to see the amazing cake my very talented daughter made for my 60th birthday yesterday.

It was an edible replica of our Navara dual cab and Jayco sterling caravan complete with ExplorOz wheel cover, my hiking boots and hubbys thongs outside the door! She had even put red dirt on the tyres and wheel arches...

I guess it does but we run the air con most of the year, on cool in Summer months and heat in cooler, so dont notice really. Doesnt take too long to cool down a dual cab interior.

I see your comment and pic has been moderated Gone Bush but I certainly got a laugh out of it and had shown my other half before it disappeared so thanks for your input and sense of humour.

You're welcome Heather.

Moderation was inevitable I'm afraid (and expected) and I'm OK with it. But you know there was no harm intended (and none taken, I see). I've always enjoyed your posts and your blog.

The more I look at the photos of that cake, it really is a very clever work of art.

I bet you were thrilled when you saw it for the first time.

I get a slice of fairy bread for my birthday if I'm lucky. Still, I love fairy bread.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Hi Daza,

Yes it does taste good - mud cake - my favourite - delicious. I sent pieces home with many friends who called in yesterday but there is still lots left and it is too easy to go and get another piece!

My daughter has just started up a business making and decorating cakes and it is already keeping her busy. My cake was just a labour of love.

Cheers,

Heather G

Hi Heather,

That's one awesome cake... We're planning to make a hilux cake for our son's birthday...

Could I possibly ask how you made the grey for the windows and the grey/white for the headlights?

Thanks heaps :-)

Hi Michael,

I didn't make the cake, my daughter did, so I can't really tell you. I dont think she would want to give away her secrets as she has a business working from home.
You could probably look online somewhere to find out though. I think you can buy icings already coloured and food colourings in many different shades so you can probably mix them together.

Yes it is an amazing cake and apparently took many hours of work.

Regards,

Heather
