Looks like a car aircon unit with a winch motor attached. An electric "endless air"??
Much too expensive for me.

I think I put the reply in the wrong spot. It should have been for reddbakk . I was referring to the unit in his link to the expensive unit. Sorry was not trying to demean yours it looks pretty good.

Looks like quite a compressor. Can deliver a lot of air.

I agree that it looks like an old air conditioner pump. If I could fit one of those to my motor I would have that as it in the past it has been the best air compressors and the fastest.

I like the extreme outback one there as well.

I have a similar one Boss Grand PX-07.

I think eventually it becomes a compromise of cost, weight and performance.

Interesting post though.

That's something I've always wondered about those 4x4 compressors that people get - could you run a 2nd air con compressor in place instead, and would it do a comparable job?

It's been done......

Endless Air

Dunno if they're still doin' 'em, as the website doesn't look to have been updated in a while...
Could give 'em a buzz if interested....

I had an old air-condition compressor fitted to my previous Landcruiser with the 12ht motor. It was mounted next to the A/C compressor with a small belt running off the A/c twin drive.

It was the best pump I ever had. I would have one on this cruiser like a shot if I could fit it under the bonnet. And that is the key why not a lot of people have them these days - no room to fit them.

Cheers

Looks like a compressor for truck tyres not 4x4 use with that model. Pulling 150 amps is alot on a small battery. Pity it's not continuously rated either as with that airflow (7 to 9 cfm) would run some smaller air tools as well. I'd turf the silly remote & rewire with a pressure cut off switch combined with a small tank making it even faster for tyre inflation.
Not a bad price for what it is but for recreation 4 wheel driving use something like the Boss compressor which pulls 40 amps @ 4cfm for around $400 is probably more suitable.

Looks like a starter motor at one end.

I think I'll just stick to my Truck Air compressor!

Cheers.

Im sure that one is in the upper price range as well. If you need that kind of air ,then so be it.

Otherwise,Ill stick to my 6 year old Max air for $300. It pumps up my tyres leaving the beach in 12 mins.

Hi Redbakk. My thomas is at least 15 years old and i was after something faster so purchased the new ARB .4x4 action mag had a big 32 model comparison some time back and the ARB model even beat the boss px7 which had nearly double the current draw.Nothing like the one you have showed us though.ARB pumps my 225 r16s from 15psi to 40 psi in 1min 15 secs not bad for a $300 dollar compressor.
Cheers Graeme.
