Hi All,
The last 24 hours has proved what the locals had predicted, the Cooper would reach the
Birdsville Track and then Lake Eyre. Jade and Patsy are as excited about the event as me, but and I am green with envoy, as they were right there to see it unfold.
Yesterday Jade told me unofficially that the way the water is coming down, the
Birdsville Track would be closed in under 24 hours, and as you would now be aware, Transport SA now officially has the Track as Closed due to flooding of the
Cooper Creek over the
Birdsville Track. The depth of water has reached over the 1 metre depth and is flowing extremely fast. This morning when Nathan went down to see the mornings events, water was lapping the
toilet block just down from the MV Tom Brennan.
Late yesterday when Nathan was heading back to the station, he stopped in the middle of the fast flowing
Birdsville Track and talked with another vehicle and when he drove off, there was a 10cm little fish on the running board and they were very surprised that the little fish was that far down the Cooper in such a short time.
Enough of my ramblings and here are more pictures taken by Jade yesterday and today, thanks Jade.
Until my next lot of photos, start planning your trip to see this unreal event.
Regards to All
Stephen
