Does fuel have to be ordered/booked at Kunawarritji Community?
Is there a minimum?

Boxhead,

No to both of your questions, but like last year they can run out of fuel very quick.

There fuel delivery was delayed because of high demand from the mining companies.

They were down to there last 2,000lt of diesel and were not real sure when they were getting fresh supplies. Fuel was $2.80lt when we were there but I did hear when they did get a delivery the price went to $3.00lt.

Last year was the first time that they were short of fuel when I have been through.

Worth a phone call to check before you arrive. They ran out twice last year when we were in the area. Usually hear about it on the VKS skeds.

You can get diesel at at Kintore or Kiwirrikura when heading there from the Gary Junction Road. Alternatively, can get diesel at Punmu or Cotton Creek if you're heading off in those directions.
Fuel drop to Well 23 fuel dump is still available via Capricorn Roadhouse.

And spend a few precious minutes talking and listening to the locals..go into the office and ask for stickers...they're somewhat special. Pay a couple of bucks for a pie and softdrink, or maybe a shower.
But please don't make any nasty comments about the community.
Yes it's another planet out there, but don't spoil it for those who are yet to go there. If you're friendly and well behaved, they'll be welcoming.
Enjoy your trip.

They have a small camping area with facilities and is a good place for an o/nghter if you want to meet the locals. Last June the fuel pumps were out of action and a hand pump was used, -- you need to watch carefully how much fuel you are actually receiving. I was sold a great deal more than I ordered and at $2. 80 p/l it was just a little costly. Otherwise a pleasant stop over. Buy a t shirt people will continually ask you where it is when you wear it arround home.

Enjoy, Tol.
