Due to freezing I suspect my thermistor has come away from its location on the evaporator, Been a fridgy I would naturally want to try to repair this fault myself , I have contacted some Waeco repairer in
Sydney for info but like a true business persons (protecting trade secretes) they are happy to sell me parts but are reluctant to provide technical info, I know the thermistor is located somewhere on the evaporator would anyone know or have had their thermistor replaced? and is there evidence of where the sensor might be ? have they perhaps cut into the side of the cabinet and put a plate/cover where they have been.
Or has anyone attempted with success installed a standard thermostat (Engel or otherwise) to by-pass the electronics controller ?

A thermistor is just a resistor that has its value altered with the temperature. It is a 2 wire device.
So, just trace a pair of wires from the control module to the evaporator area - most likely just inside the fridge compartment where the refrigerant lines enter (closest to the control module). Just went through this process with my Engel - it really couldn't be anything else but the thermistor.
Cheers & a happy new year, Tony.

Thanks Tony, your spot on with the fact its a thermistor fault , however I wish it was that simple, I can see the thermistor wiring disappearing into a small hole in the cabinet above the compressor, you cannot even drop the compressor down to better assess the situation,I was hoping for an easier method of perhaps re-routing the thermistor to a location that's easier to install and access.
