The
Sydney Morning Herald Feb 18-19 carried a full page article on the fact that the flow in the
Snowy River in February dropped from 275 megalitres to 70 overnight when the Hydro Scheme diverted the water from the Mowamba River back into their dams .
The SMH says no one new this was going to happen , but after doing some research and going to the site ,
http://www.snowyriveralliance.com.au/newsletter.htm#3
it appears that at least the people in the
Snowy River Alliance new about it and had been making submissions to the Government to stop the flow being redirected in February .
Does anybody know the real story behind this ? Putting water back into the Snowy is a great project and I would like to try and help them somehow .
Cheers ,
Willie .

goodday willie
i think 1 answer to the problem is the holy dollar as the nsw pollies want to sell the snowy system so they probably wantas much water as possible in the
dam to show prospective buyers
i think i read they only want 650million bucks and i wouldnt expect to much waste water as who ever buys will want every litre to make a buck
just my opinion but i reckon i am close to the mark

But Steve , 270 megalitres is such a small amount in the overall scheme of things . The outcry that they are going to cop , will , I think , make them change their minds - I hope so , anyway .
I only wish I could do something to help . I might email the
Snowy River Alliance , and ask them what are plans are to combat this latest move .
Cheers ,
Willie .

I was at
Jindabyne two weeks ago, they are modifying the
dam wall to comply with international overflow and flood standards. The work is quite major. Maybe this is the reason for the tempory water flow reduction...
