Is it my day or did I just stuff up.

12 or so months back I purchased the Hema maps DVD package, I believe through this site. I am 100% sure that I copied all of them to the laptop hard disk and the SD card for Ozi.

I either missed the one for here or they didn't put it on the disk.

Of course you can't buy it any more. Murphy got the last.

Any help would be appreciated. A copy would be nice. Please note that I am not in the world of pirating any IT product. I have asked Hema for help and I hope that they can help me. However as they do not seem to support the digital files I am not hanging around waiting. We are off to Fraser in a few days and we want to study the mainland near here first.

It's not in mine either. If you check the Hema key map it only has Fraser Island in that area. I had to use the normal 250k Australian topo for the run through Cooloola.

I have the Fraser one - bought it a few weeks ago. I should have checked the mainland maps before leaving home. Checked all for the trip up and back but not for here.

I also have the 250.

Thanks Michael.

Hey Phil, don't forget to pre-book your campsites on the island sight unseen. One of the joys of visiting QLD national parks....

Hi Phil,

Not much help with what you have got, but have you looked at the EOTopo 200K Australia digital map.
I find this is all I need. One Map, good detail.

I do have the set of Hema Maps that came with my Hema Navigator but find I rarely need anything other than the EOTopo map.

I had a look last year but it didn't show any more detail than the 250k tropo and Hema maps that I already have.

A bit late for me to be buying anything unless it could be downloaded. That's why I looked at it at home.

Thanks Bill

Mate,

Just had a look at the Hervey Bay area using Hema Maps and it just shows the Town.
On EOTopo it shows the streets as well. That is just viewing it on OziExplorer.

Take a Look at EOTopo - Online and zoom in for greater detail.
This is the same as what you get if you purchase EOTopo and you can purchase a downloadable version to install wherever you like.

Hi
EO topo (and 250K topo) only shows major roads - doesn't show "streets" (at max zoom allowed)

If you want proper detail in built up areas Googles maps isn't a bad option - here is the same area as shown in EO topo above - notice numerous streets not shown in EO Topo.

Cheers
Greg

Greg,

Wouldn't think that Phil was looking for a Street Directory replacement, just an Australia Map showing the Hervey Bay area in reasonable detail, including the more major roads.

Just trying to help him mate!

? was just just trying to help too Bill - just pointing out the detail available in various map products. Wasn't a personal dig at you in any shape or form. I am sure you are correct but will leave it up to Phil to decide what he needs.

Cheers
Greg

Hi Greg. I have the QLD towns and that gives all the streets. I just wanted more details than 250K Tropo gives for the inland areas "behind" Hervey Bay etc. EO Tropo is too big to download so I will do with the ones I have at the moment.

At least I have a good map of Fraser.

All good here also Bill. I know Greg and he is a good source of outback info.

Catchya

Thanks Phil - I do, generally speaking, try to be as polite and helpful as possible but being human I am not perfect...

Anyway, now that I have had some time have established there is a Hema map of the Hervey Bay surrounds..

Shows a few POI's inland...but no "streets" :)

Cheers

Home again after a few weeks in Hervey Bay (bloody cold and blowing a gale for 5 days, end then a week on Fraser.

No fishing from Hervey Bay because of the high winds and rain, unfortunately. But the drives suggested above were excellent.

Fraser:
One low clearance Jeep bottomed out on the track out of Kingfishers Resort and help everyone up. A bit peeved off as he was adamant that he would use his own winch on his 4WD ( according to the salesman!!!). Held up about ten cars for ages.

According to rumours there were three cars lost to the tide on one night. Methinks rumour. But the tide was full at midday or thereabouts catching the "visitors to 4WD" off guard. Supposed to be the night of the 8th but I haven't seen any reports. But believable from what we saw.

Whale watch:
The best ever whale watch. Two males circled the boat for about 15 minutes, coming as close as 2M away. Bloody hell they are big when that close. We got splashed and felt the mist from the breathing.

Thanks for the advice people.

Phil
