Hi,

For anyone following The Happy Walk around Australia it is on hold for an indefinite period of time, hopefully not long.

I have been walking with fibroids (uterine tumours [usually benign]) for 6 years without too much trouble but in the last few months they have grown so large they are playing havoc with my hip, spine, bowels and menstruation. I can't walk upright without anti-inflamatories, pain killers and walking poles.

As I can't get private health insurance (suicide record) and am on a disability pension I will be waiting inline and have no idea how long that will be, the local hospital has an average 12 month waiting list for this surgery so I desperately hope for my health and for the walk I am fast tracked.

There will be one more blog to get up to date with The Happy Walk progress before it all goes quiet until I have fully recovered and am back on the road.

Thank you everyone for all your fantastic support, support for depression awareness, suicide prevention, Lifeline and moral support as I walk.

I'll let you know when I return to Creswick to start walking again but in the meantime I will have updates including mental health awareness links on The Happy Walk facebook page (not gonna let a few tumours stop me from helping people get better).

Cheers
Terra

Terra,
sorry to hear that you have a bit of bother. Hope you can get into the hospital quickly and your plumbing repaired.

Keep on a smiling and don't be like me.

Hey Terra, so sorry to hear this. I really do know how you might feel. I have lived with the same tumours for more than a decade and there are some days when it gets so bad I cannot get out of bed. And they just keep getting bigger, applying more pressure, but thankfully slowly in my case. Still, two the size of tennis balls are not comfortable. I am holding out for menopause, 'cause apparently they then disappear. Something to look forward to. But that is a long way away for you..... I feel for you girl.

I have just signed up on Facebook. Let's be Friends?

Cheap advice can be just that but as this is the only avenue I know you thru Terra then focus on your goal always, and to be able to continue your walk I am sure is part of that goal, so keep your compass pointed in that direction.

So sorry to hear this Terra, best wishes for your recovery and I hope it is quick!

What you had planned was so good and is certainly an area that needs lots of support, I know as I am studying to work in the area!

Cannot keep up with you on Facebook 'coz I don't do facebook but get well and stay safe.
